Next leg of our adventure is setting up camp in Parker, AZ on the Colorado River near Lake Havasu. Lake Havasu is the home of the original London Bridge. The bridge was disassembled and hauled across the ocean and reinstalled at Lake Havasu in the 1960s as the town was being built.

We actually stayed on the California side of the river in the Big River RV park and campground right on the Colorado River. We were able to get our 15 ft inflatable Kaboat out and play around in the river. The boat packs away in a case that is about 30″ x 24″ x 12″ that makes it easy to carry in the trailer. We also have a trolling motor to act as propulsion.

The boat is a cross between an inflatable kayak and a john boat. It has a transom on the back that will support up to a 10 hp outboard motor. (Think TV show “Home Improvement” Tim the Toolman saying “UHH, Uhh, Uhh” right now.) Makes a great traveling fishing boat. Wayne’s going to get a lot of use out of it, I’m sure. You know guys and their toys.

During our stay here, we went out and toured the desert around the river canyon and ran across some of the wildlife. There are wild burros here left over from the 1800s mining in the area. They wander up and down the roads and even into some of the campgrounds here along the river.

We also took time out to do a balloon event in Pahrump, NV. It’s about 60 miles west of Las Vegas on the way to Death Valley.

Pahrump’s claim to fame is that it is home to the closest brothel to Las Vegas (Sheri’s Ranch Brothel).

Of course while there we took a day and went out and toured Death Valley. It was quite an experience. We didn’t have to deal with the heat because it was February and there is snow on some of the distant mountains. We drove around the valley and experienced being well below sea level, a long ways from the coast. Here is a photo of our dashboard map, altitude -243 feet.

Back in Parker, AZ and it was time to go to Phoenix. It’s about a 3 hour drive and Wayne bought tickets to go see the Dancing With The Stars Tour. We were close to the front and got to see everything up close.

We are loving this on the road, do whatever we want lifestyle. It is so much fun and amazing.
